Comparison between the Holt-Winters and SARIMA Models in the Prediction of NDVI in an Arid Region in Kenya using Pixel-wise NDVI Time Series

Authors: Mwana Said Omar(1),Hajime Kawamukai(2) | Department of Policy and Management Informatics, Graduate School of Applied Informatics, University of Hyogo, Kobe, Japan(1,2)

Doi: 10.52132/Ajrsp/en.2231

Abstract:
Desertification is major issue in arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL) with devastating environmental and socio-economic impacts. Time series analysis was applied on 19 years’ pixel-wise monthly mean Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data. The aim of this study was to identify a time series model that can be used to predict NDVI at the pixel level in an arid region in Kenya. The Holt-Winters and Seasonal Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) models were developed and statistical analysis was carried out using both models on the study area.

Keywords:
Arid, Desertification, Kenya, MODIS NDVI, SARIMA, The Holt-Winters model.

Application of GC in the Analysis of Carbohydrates

Author: Ghayth Mohammed Ghayth | Chemistry Department, Faculty Of education, Bani Walid University, Bani Walid, Libya

Doi: 10.52132/Ajrsp/en.2233

Abstract:
In the mid-1970s and before, Gas Chromatography was the leading technique for analysing carbohydrates in foods until when HPLC start to dominate. Never the less, GC still offers advantages for many applications of food technologists in carbohydrates. The efficiency of the detection of these molecules is reduced as a result of the high polarity and un-volatility of sugars. To overcome these problems, the sugars can be derivative by removing the active hydrogen such as -OH, consequently increasing volatility and improving detectability. Acylation reaction is the most commonly used method of derivatization.

Gas Chromatography, analysis, acylation, carbohydrates and derivatives.

An Overview of the Theoretical Perspectives on Higher Education Financing (Implications for Educational Administration in Nigeria)

Author: Sani Ahmed Yauta | Gombe State University, Department of Educational Foundations P.M.B 0127, Gombe, Gombe State, Nigeria.

Doi: 10.52132/Ajrsp/en.2234

Abstract:
The paper reviewed some theories that explain higher education financing. Some aspect of these theories is compared in terms of the theoretical perspective on financing higher education. The historical viewpoint and the tenant of the theories give an insight and possible solution to higher education financing. The purpose of the paper is to illuminate an important policy issues on financing higher education the world over and to contribute to the general debate on the contribution of theories in explaining the main issue of financing higher education.

The factors that helped in the development of East Asian countries and the extent of their application in Arab countries

Author: Huda Ahmed Khelwai | Department of Economics, College of Political Science & Economics, Korea University, South Korea
Doi: 10.52132/Ajrsp/en.2235

Abstract:
The world is witnessing great developments in various sectors; some countries have managed to change their course and rise from the setbacks and crises they are going through to achieve great success in the indicators of development and economic growth that has facilitated the entire world, such as the great development that East Asian countries have gone through. It was able to turn into the greatest developed country in a short period of time, as it did not exceed 25 years; This prompted many other countries to identify the factors that helped this development,
